“Lighting the Way” depicts the powerful symbolism of a fist existing as a torch, leading the way through the dark. In solidarity with our community, every step that we take, and every time we speak up, we add to the light. We know how illuminating a strong light source is, and the fire represents both our rage and our infectiousness. The more of us fighting, the brighter our light, the faster it spreads, and the more we are seen. When we raise our fists and our voices, we create a powerful flame that inspires a call to action. These new works represent the power of representation and symbolism in the fight for our future. The foundation of my practice revolves around the idea that "art will save the world", and that is because of the power it holds.
